Join us for an exciting in-person event at The Court House Warwick. Commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day, this series of public talks is perfect for military enthusiasts or those with a passion for history. Explore the role of The Royal Warwickshire Regiment in D-Day. Immerse yourself in captivating talks, informative presentations, and engaging discussions led by renowned experts. Don't miss this unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into this pivotal moment in history from speakers such as well-known historian, author and podcaster, Peter Hart. Peter will be exploring the long gestation that created D-Day: the lessons learnt from previous experiences, 'the primary importance of logistics, the importance of securing early on a large and deep beachhead, the importance of deception, the use of special forces, the armoured 'funnies' that helped carve a way off the beaches, the devastating naval bombardments, the importance of high-angle fire, and the use of air power. The result was a success that launched the invasion of Europe.'
Mark your calendars and get ready for a day filled with knowledge, camaraderie, and a deep appreciation for the bravery of the soldiers. Lunch is included at this special Warwick venue but please contact general.manager@fusiliermuseumwarwick.com if you have any special dietary requirements.
There will also be a chance to visit the museum next door which will be hosting a special exhibition on the Royal Warwicks and D-Day as well as a research table with handling items. All proceeds from this event will be used to support the museum to keep telling the stories of the regiment for future generations.
