WW1 Lives: Bairnsfather Cartoons
Bruce Bairnsfather was a British cartoonist who is best known for his cartoons of British soldiers in the trenches during World War I. His cartoons were popular for their humor and their ability to capture the absurdity of trench warfare. He was also a talented artist, and his cartoons were often reproduced on plates, cups, car mascots, and other merchandise.
Bairnsfather's cartoons helped to raise morale among British soldiers and humanize the war for people back home. He is remembered as one of the most important cartoonists of World War I.
The following are a selection of his works that are on display in the "World War 1 Lives" exhibition in the Fusilier Museum, Warwick.
