Embroidery & Needlework in Wartime

Art Needlework by Penelope

Penelope was a company well known for producing embroidery packs. The wording on this pack states that it is to be used ‘Exclusively for Occupational Therapy in all service and civilian hospitals or for Educational Purposes in organised handicraft classes in H.M Forces.’ This pack is unused. It contains a collection of threads and a linen tablecloth printed with a floral design in cross stitch. The pack would have been given to injured serviceman in hospital in WW2, possibly to RAF serviceman Mr Keith.
