As we recognise the 80th anniversary of the surrender of Japan and the end of WW2, these two talks will explore little known but dramatic stories of Generals and men who served in the Far East campaigns.,
Alan Jeffreys, co-author of Churchill's Forgotten Generals: Victors in Burma explores how Generals Auchinleck, Slim and Savory, and their role in the campaigns in Northeast India and Burma (Myanmar) have been largely forgotten in the recorded histories of the Second World War.
Local historian, Ian Binnie examines the little known roles of soldiers from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in the Far East some who became members of the famous Chindits, the special operations units who featured in the Burma campaigns.
